In 2009 Lenka Clayton and Micheal Crowe started a brilliant new project that I simply adore. They sent out over 1000 personal handwritten letters between two very small towns (one in Poland, one in the US). They had hoped “these unsolicited letters would prompt neighbourly discussion, spreading across the town, promoting community curiosity”. I think this is pure brilliance. Small towns buzz with enough as is, can you imagine the noise if everyone in town was receiving letters from a perfect stranger? Love it.
Check out Mysterious Letters to see all their mail being sent out. And if your really gungho about the project you can even donate money and they will send you a letter as well (larger donations recieve cards written while drunk to increase the oddness I suppose).
I have indeed sent off a few little letters to strangers myself however they are always something uplifting or inspiring. I think its brillant to send off letters of randomness though. Wouldnt you be just so thrilled if you were to recieve one of these in the mail? Oh the thought is dreamy…
“There’s always something to be thankful for. From the important things like Songs You’re Embarrassed to Like, and Heavy Eyelids that Tell You When You Need to Sleep, to friends and family, love and loneliness, light and darkness, Leah Dieterich sets out to acknowledge them all. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude.” thxthxthx.com
Love this blog and love Leahs take on gratitude! Thanks Alysa for featuring this blog for me, it makes me smile pretty good!

Also known as TWENTY THREE simple little days until I will be sitting at the movies on the edge of my seat eagerly anticipating the theater lights to dim and my imagination to be filled with clipits from the most adored book ive read in years. EAT-PRAY-LOVE, ahhh I get excited when I just repeat the title. Ive never been a movie person, not a celebritiy person, not a front of-the-line kinda gal either….I am all of these with the release of this new movie, all of these and more! The preview comes on and I am a love-struck child dreaming away of all the story lines Liz conjures up around the world; I want to drink in each step of her journey, compare notes, give er props and dream away!
Most anticipated moment of the movie (among many)……adora-freakin-ble Javier Bardem non-chanalently dripping from his lips my most favorite line in the whole bloody book “You dont need a man Liz, you need a champion”. Ahhhh squeal…he’s right Liz, really truly right, you need a CHAMPION…tee he soo dreamy!! I cannot wait…seriously cannot flippin wait! Im SUCH a girl somedays!

Some choice is better than none BUT it doesn’t follow from that, that more choice is better than some choice. There is some magical amount, I dont know what it is, im pretty confident we have long since passed the point where options improve our welfare. The more options there are, the easier it is to regret anything at all that is disappointing about the option that you choose.
When people have no choice, life is almost unbearable. As the number of available choices increases, as it has in our consumer culture, the autonomy, control, and liberation this variety brings are powerful and positive. But as the number of choices keeps growing, negative aspects of having a multitude of options begin to appear. As the number of choices grows further, the negatives escalate until we become overloaded. At this point, choice no longer liberates, but debilitates. It might even be said to tyrannize.

A few times in my life I’ve had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I have lived my life on these moments. They pull me back to the present…

I believe in the sun even though it is slow in rising. I believe in you without realizing. I believe in rain though there are no clouds in the sky. I believe in truth even though people lie. I believe in peace though sometimes I am violent. I believe in God even though he is silent. -Danelle Warkentine

Judging a person purely on looks is downright rude and superficial so to judge a sports team based on looks would be equally as bad right? Im sitting on the fence on this one so for those of you who dont mind a little judge-a-book-by-the-cover type attitude then good news, SPAIN HAS IT IN THE BAG! Miguel Torres, Cesc Fabregas, Iker Casillas, Pepe Reina, Gerard Pique, David Villa, Víctor Valdés all definitely have the ability to bring home the cup and if their little feet cant do the job for them then im sure those charming smiles, beautiful eyes, and tanned skin can get ‘er done just as well. Sad ill be missing the game on Wednesday but I cant wait to see the pictures recapping it/them all (wink)!!!
