But I disagree…

It sounds pretty but I disagree. I believe there are moments in your life when you have to dance like EVERYONE is watching.

I found this quote from a blog my cousin introduced me to last week,
im loving the site!  www.iwrotethisforyou.me

Up, off, and away!

All this waiting and wanting and my trip is finally here!  I am off and I cannot wait to soak up every single moment of this little getaway!  My next two weeks are gonna look a little like this:
Spend time with my most FAVORITE people on this earth
Regress twenty years (OMG) and become a child again, playing on rides and stretching my imagination
Eat terribly (I know its inevitable and im going to enjoy every minute of it)
Re-read Luke just for some extra smiles
Allow my toes to flirt with the ocean once again
Relax, enjoy, clear my mind
Absorb copious amounts of sunshine and heat while laying-out pool side
Soak up every moment of the most anticipated trip ive taken in years!!

PS: I cant WAIT to redo this family picture, lol as charming as it is I have a feeling we could do better!

iF itS ThE BeaCHes…

This song has consumed a minimum of four minutes in each and every one of my days since I was introduced to it.  I LOVE it.  I love music period but sometimes you find little treasure songs and they seem to stick around for a while…this one is staying (at least until that sexy future husband of mine pisses me off and sings this song at the top of his lungs till I fall madly in love with him all over again and forget all about why we were fighting in the first place).

iF itS ThE BeaCHes – THe AvETt BrOTheRs

Don’t say it’s over
Cause that’s the worst news I
could hear I swear that I will
Do my best to be here
just the way you like it
Even though its hard to hide
Push my feelings all aside
I will rearrange my plans and
change for you

If I could go back
That’s the first thing I would do
I swear that I would
Do my best to follow through
Come up with a master plan
A homerun hit, a winning stand
A gaurantee and not a promise
That I’ll never let your love
slip from my hands

If it’s the beaches
If it’s the beaches’ sands you want
Then you will have them
If it’s the mountains’ bending rivers
Then you will have them
If it’s the wish to run away
Then I will grant it

Take whatever you think of
While I go gas up the truck
Pack the old love letters up
We will read them when
we forget why we left here

Your fears erased here daily

I LOVE THIS!
This idea is done every year at Burning Man and it steals my heart.
If you could write on this wall what would you say?   Would you actually have the courage to erase your fears once you gave them a voice?

My wall might look like this:
elastic bands
being alone forever
being with someone forever
dehydration
time constraints
balloons
living in a box
my family dying
settling
same same always

For the record I would/will/am erasing them, one by one!

This is my station…

Traveling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying, I would love to stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.

If you’re bored like me…

Im on to magic lately, well actually ive always been a sucker for it.  I want to go to an old school magic show again, I absolutely adore watching tricks.  I used to love optical illusions so much when I was young, mostly because it would take me FOREVER to figure them out and then when I finally did I felt like I had won the lottery.  This is the first optical illusion I ever remember seeing (my grade five teacher Mrs. Kroker showed it to our class).  This one is the old lady and the young lady, the old lady is who stands out the most to me.

This one is supposed to be a young boy and his father, but I still cannot bloody well get it.  Again I see the old man but I cant see the young kid at all (this will bug me everyday until I finally see it).

And what the heck?  As if these things are not so cool!  Stare at it and watch all the circles start spinning.

Oh yeah and here are a few thoughts to ponder:
-Can a man drown in the fountain of eternal life?
-Your mission is not to accept the mission. Do you accept?
-Answer truthfully (yes or no) to the following question:
Will the next word you say be ‘no’?

The feeling of new…

Firsts have always been so special to me.  I love to be the first allowed to spill a big secret, the first to dig into the ice cream, and the first to wish a dear friend Happy Birthday.  I love, love, love firsts!

My first day in China was probably one of the most memorable days of my entire trip.  From the moment I got off the airplane and walked around the airport I was a completely foreign creature.  Juan and I had spent the last little while in Malaysia sick and clearly did not put any effort into ourselves for the flight.  We stepped off the plane looking like disasters.  His hair the size of a small mammal parked on top his head, and my appearance looking as though I hadn’t slept or showered in months due to my unkept clothes and eyes black as a raccoons.  Not only were people staring at us because we were white but im pretty sure they were quite disappointed in our presentation.

We laughed, and laughed, and laughed so much in those first few hours.  I still get this confused grin when I think about how completely prepared we  were to be so unprepared.  We had no way to communicate with anyone.  Not one person we met shared a common language with us, we had no idea where we were going, and we didn’t even have proper currency to get us on the bus into town.  Somehow, I have no idea how, but somehow we managed to get into the city and begin our journey to the university.

Hours later, literally probably a good three or four hours later (in what should have been a half hour trip) we managed to find our way to our destination.  China was freezing cold (a cold I can barely describe even as a Canadian), possibly it was the fact that we had spent the previous six months in boiling hot temperatures chasing the summer around the world, or maybe it was the fact that we owned barely any winter clothes between the two of us and were both trudging along in our flip flops, I don’t know but it was bloody cold.  Street vendors selling barbecued turnips and honeydew mellon on a stick, being surrounded by symbols rather than words, having people laugh in your face at the sheer curiosity of your presence, smog thicker than I have seen, and people, loads and loads of people, it was all SO different.

By this time Juan and I were starving so we decided to go into the corner grocery shop to pick up some munchies.  This feeling of overwhelming joy spread into my body the moment we entered.  I recognized labels from certain products at home but the writing was all in Chinese (oreos, lipton, doritos, all labeled in Chinese symbols).  I felt like I had stepped into the twilight zone.  I have never in my life experienced the same feeling I did at that very moment.  Everything was so new and different and there was not one sign of anything familiar, not in the people, the environment, the language, not even in the food.  I cried it was so exciting, I eagerly picked up the packages and giggled away while tugging on Juans sleeve like a child trying to get his attention to see everything I was seeing.  I loved that moment.

Today I am missing something new and fresh.  Today I am remembering China and really missing it!

For a dear friend

Im sorry for the day you had,
after our conversation tonight this quote popped into my mind:

The harder the fight….

the sweeter the song!

I hope your dreams are finding you peacefully…
